Just finished watching those bitch ass Phillies when the World Series. With the exception of The Boston RedSox or The St. Louis Cardinals, I pretty much would've rather seen any other team become champions. When I was down in Tampa this summer, everybody there was talking about their Rays. They gotta be hurtin' right now. Personally, I had so much hope for the tigers back in June. Then when they didn't make the playoffs, I was pullin' for Manny and the Dodgers. But, I would've loved to have seen a WhiteSox vs. Cubs world series. It was actually looking possible for a minute. Well, the 2008 baseball season is over and I thought this would be the perfect excuse for me to throw up some photos that I took earlier this year. The 1st set is from Cincinatti. I hate to admit it(I've just always disliked everything Ohio except for Jacobs Field), but I was kinda diggin' the vibe there. I've been to cinci many times, but I guess because I was there on a Saturday night this time I got to see the flavor of the city. The downtown area is so clean, quiet, peaceful and beautiful(look at that nighttime skyline). Then of course on the bottom is what I've said before in this blog has gotta be the ugliest field in baseball. Cell phone pics of PNC Park, home of the Pittsburg Pirates.

This evening, I did a double take as I drove up 6 mile Rd on the west side of Detroit. I'm pretty sure that the coney island joint directly across from McDonalds is gonna be getting a cease and desist letter from Mcdonalds Corporation real soon. Nicky D's even has the balls to use the same colors as Mickey D's. lol, I've seen it all now. There's even another Nicky D's location on east 8 mile Road. See that picture of The old school Mcdonalds below? I shot that a few days ago in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. One arch or two, copying Mcdonalds is something that you just can't do. When Nicky D's is forced to change that logo, I'll make sure to put up an updated picture in this blog.

Since I couldn't bare to watch the Lions embarrass themselves at Ford Field, after morning church services, I decided to spend my Sunday afternoon sippin' on alcohol and gambling. I really wanted to go across the water and hit Caesars Windsor for the first time, but it was a spur of the moment thing and I didn't have my passport or my birth certificate with me and you need 2 forms of government ID to leave the country. So I settled for my favorite Detroit Casino. They got that beautiful fall display goin' on. If you look back through the blog this year, you'll see the summertime palm a few months ago and the Christmas Tree bulb back in the winter. Yeah, I really dig MGM Grand. Too bad I didn't win anything there today.

It's amazing how things can change in just 19 months. I took the top picture up above on
March 13, 2007(click to flashback) and the bottom one was taken today today. I had just moved back to the "D" from my 7 month stay in Cali and I kinda had new hope for the city I was born and raised in. So did everyone else. With all the construction going on downtown, people were thinking big things were coming. That feeling had actually been there every since preparations for Superbowl XL. not only were they building the Motor City Casino/Hotel and the MGM Grand Casino/Hotel but they were also restoring the once world-class Book Cadillac Hotel. That mothafucka was THE SHIT back in Detroit's heyday. Three U.S. presidents had stayed there. Truman, Eisenhower and Kennedy. Martin Luther King Jr. was also a guest. It was built in 1921 for 14 million dollars and at one time, the 33 floor hotel was considered the largest in the world. Then in closed in 1986. Now after a $200 million renovation the hotel will have a huge gala tonight. I'm predicting it'll be closing AGAIN within the next few years. The good thing about the renovation is that they included condos on the top floor. When the hotel doesn't make any money, they can always convert the whole building to condos and luxury apartments. Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing the place bad luck, but those casinos that they were building last year are now completed and they've already laid off new employees that were hired when the structures were completed 9 months ago. Most people that live in the Detroit area wouldn't wanna spend the money to stay there. Hell, most people that live in the Detroit area are struggling to pay their mortgages. The economy is bad all over the U.S., but it's horrible here in Detroit. Michigan has the highest unemployment rate in the land and with the big 3 auto companies collapsing, its probably gonna get higher. It's just the wrong time to open a luxury hotel. How many people do you know that actually take vacations to Detroit anyways?

A few weeks ago I was in Cashville on some non internet business/personal shit, but I was able to make enough time to snap some shots of The country music museum, so I figured I'd show them to you today. Then on the bottom up above is the sommet center where the Nashville Predators play hockey and where 3 nights ago the 2008 CMA awards where held.

Like I said yesterday, it's a slow month So I figured I'd shoot some photos of the only thing I ever see tourist snapping pictures of here in Detroit. As a matter of fact, I had to wait for some old timers from Arkansas to stop posing so I could get what you see up above. A long list of people recorded in Studio A between 1959 and 1972. Including The Jackson 5, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes and Marvin Gaye. Read more at
MotownMuseum.com.

Yall wouldn't believe how many pounds of pasta I've consumed this month thus far. I've definitely over done it on the $8.95 endless pasta thing. I hit a personal record today. The whole glass bowl of salad, 2 baskets of breadsticks and 6 full plates of pasta. Then I ordered a 7th plate just so I could take home in a doggy bag. I walked out of that mothafucka feeling like I really got my moneys worth. Friday, I'm hittin' up Red Lobster, for that endless shrimp shit. Yeah, I know but October is always a slow month. lol

Now it's early in the morning and I only got a couple of hours of sleep last night, but I know this is some strange shit. I was searching through photos on my portable hard drive for a bear that I can use in a stock market project that I'm doing. Then all of a sudden, I see a face looking at me. I almost shitted in my pants. Now I shot these photos last year at the Detroit zoo. I never even noticed it before, but as I gaze at the bottom of that sea lion I see 2 eyes, a nose and 2 ears. Whats even more strange is it looks like someone I've seen before. Like I said though, it's early in the morning and I could be trippin'

Man, I'm tellin' yall it's scary how fast time goes. I can't believe we're already 10 days into October. I haven't blogged yet, cause ain't really shit going down but the stock market. If you got anything in that bitch, I suggest you pull it all out NOW. I've been so tempted to cop some Ford or GM shares, because them shits are at 50 year lows. But(and you heard it hear first) One of them companys ain't gonna make it or both are going to have to combine in some way to survive. It's times like these that some people make millions, but on the other hand a lot of people lose everything that they have. I think I'd rather just take my money to Nevada and drop it into some slots instead hahaha. In the meantime, I just got a lil bonus from my 9 to 5, so I figured I'd toss my Alma Maters a lil cash. I can't wait to get my F.S.U. Bulldog T-shirt.
